My Bahama Vacations - What a Sunset!

My Bahama Vacations - What a Sunset!

It was my very first time ever visiting the Bahamas. What a wonderful experience! My girlfriend and her parents were kind enough to invite me down to their time share at the Harborside Resort on Paradise Island, situated next to Nassau.

We had a breathtaking view from our balcony. My girlfriend and I are both amateur photographers with hopes of one day turning professional. We decided to bring both of our cameras down and just take as many pictures as we possibly could.

Our last night in the Bahamas was when this picture was taken. The ending to a perfect last day in paradise.

Living in New Hampshire my whole life, I never had the chance to see anything as beautiful as this. The sun rises on my side so I was never able to witness a sunset. By witnessing the sunset I knew I had to take advantage of it and snap as many pictures as I could.

We got out our tripods and placed them on the balcony. By taking three different exposures of the same image and merging them together it created an unrealistic effect that brings out all of the lights and shadows known as "high dynamic range imaging".

I'll never forget this picture or my Bahama vacation at the end of August. I honestly cannot think of a better place I would rather be. Everything was so perfect, so worry free. Hopefully I will get the chance to return sometime and relive that weeks worth of priceless moments in paradise.

What A View From Atlantis Resort, Nassau
by: Dieter Schoop

Hello Rick,

I really like the picture you shot from the Atlantis complex in Paradise Island, Nassau. You are quite an artist with your camera! I think it's the combination of colors that's so appealing in your picture.

Thanks for a great contribution to this site and if you have the opportunity to come to one of the Bahamian outer islands - they're also known as Out-Islands - I'd suggest you try the Abacos where all the boaters go or Eleuthera - 20 min. by air east of Nassau - for the most spectacular beaches.

Good luck in your career as a professional photographer. You have just given an excellent example of your talent.

Best regards from sunny Eleuthera,

Dieter Schoop
